New York State’s new soccer stadium: New York City is not a soccer city

New York, NY (CNN) — A state-sponsored stadium project that would see a $50 million soccer field installed in Queens is not soccer-crazy New York and is not even a soccer-obsessed state, according to a new report.

The report released Monday by the New York-based Institute for Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (IRCLE) comes as a state of emergency has been declared for parts of New York state following the deadly attack in a Manhattan nightclub in November.

The New York Soccer Association (NYSA) and city officials have said the stadium would help the state “secure the most competitive and exciting soccer game in the country,” and it will include amenities such as an indoor playing field, indoor practice facilities and indoor soccer and lacrosse courts.

But the report said that while New York is “well-positioned” to host soccer games, it is not “a soccer city.”

The report says that while the new stadium would be located within a large shopping and entertainment district, it will not be the most “stunningly beautiful” stadium in the world.IRCLE’s research team has also called out New York’s lack of soccer-friendly sports venues as one of the biggest barriers to the city hosting more major sports stadium will be located on the site of a former tennis court and a golf course, according the report, but the stadium will not include an indoor practice facility, nor would it be located in the most popular areas of the city.

“A soccer stadium is not ‘football heaven,'” the report reads.

“A soccer arena is not the same as a soccer stadium that hosts high-level sporting events such as the World Cup.”

The new stadium, which will cost $50 billion to build, is expected to be completed in 2020.

It is also expected to attract more than 5,000,000 people, which would make it one of New England’s most ambitious sports venues.

The stadium’s design and the cost of the project, according IRCLE, is being funded through a combination of private funds, public-private partnerships, and state and local funds.

The $50-million cost of building the stadium is being paid by taxpayers through the state’s general obligation bonds, which are expected to fund the stadium’s construction.
