The NFL’s No. 1-selling sports equipment brand, Adidas, has a major role in youth sports and the popularity of youth football, the league said Monday.
“Adidas is the number one seller of youth sport gear for children under the age of 18,” a league official said in a statement.
The official added that Adidas is the No. 3 seller of sports equipment in the U.S. “The success of this partnership with the NFL is the latest proof that the power of our brands is growing,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said.
The league also announced that the NFLPA is expanding its sales reach to other U.N. agencies, including the U, EU and African Union.
Adidas was founded in 1994 by Adidas Group’s former president and CEO, Yohannes Pereira.
The company is headquartered in France, with a global presence.
“We believe this partnership will help us achieve our long-term goal of making the game more accessible and enjoyable for our fans,” the league statement said.
