A sports training instructor has suffered a serious head injury while in a training accident, police said.

Police said he was riding his bicycle in the central Melbourne CBD on Monday when he was hit.
The man, who is in his 30s, suffered a “significant head injury” and was taken to hospital where he was in a serious but stable condition.
Police say he was wearing helmets when he fell from his bike, but has since removed them.
The incident occurred about 9:40pm (AEST) on the corner of Elizabeth and Princes Street.
