Sports equipment, footwear, equipment and clothing sales drop off as India slips back to third position in global rankings

In terms of global rankings, India has slipped from the second position to third place in the latest rankings released by Thomson Reuters.

The rankings, based on the sales of sports equipment and equipment sales for the three months ended September 30, have shown India falling from number 11 to number 26, which it lost a month ago to China.

The second-ranked nation, however, improved its position to fifth spot in the rankings for the September quarter.

The Indian government’s plan to promote sports in schools has also helped the country’s overall ranking, the report said.
